Elephant Attack

Couple of Days old, but we here at AU2012 had a busy week ...

Madikeri, March 30: Six people, including four children were injured when a wild elephant attacked an autorickshaw in which they were travelling at Thondur village near reserve forest area yesterday.

Forest officials today said the driver of the auto, one woman labourer, a child and three second standard students were travelling in the vehicle when the elephant suddenly attacked and toppled the vehicle.

Alert residents fired crackers and chased away the elephant, the officials said.

The injured were admitted to the Madikeri Hospital.

This is the kind of wierd stuff that inspires the Animal Uprising 2012 blog. We tried to find more details on this attack, but seriously could not. Whats the purpose of an elephant attacking an AutoRickshaw (small car)? What the hell was a wild elephant doing around people? Was this a surprise attack?

Unfortunately, AU2012 fears that such questions may not be answered before the Animal Uprising comes. Thus, a word of advice; don't drive small cars full of kids around elephants ...
